Ensemble formed in Bologna in 1993, on the initiative of Maurizio Minardi. Their first album 'Le Vacanze Di Hegel' was released in 1997 : Tango, habanera, impressionistic and minimal sounds, jazz improvisation and baroque music. In 1998 the magazine “Futura Music” produces Breton. The same year Quartetto Magritte wins Arezzo Wave Festival and one of the songs, “Cubi”, is edited by Polygram. In 2002 participation to the radio show “DemoRai” (promoting independent music). The same year production of the CD “L’amantenuta”. The Track L'amantenuta in the remix version , choised from Paul Murphy and published from Afro Art Records with the title ‘Malanotte’ During 2005 Quartetto Magritte wins the Moneta d’Argento (second prize) to the jazz section of the second edition of Mantua Music Festival. In 2008 the ensemble released 'Cofferatzinger' After 2008 the leader and founder of the group, Maurizio Minardi, moved to London where he published the album 'The Cook, the Clown, the Monk and the Accordionist', and carried out numerous tours in England and Europe. Since 2017, Maurizio Minardi moved to Paris where with the violinist Gabriel Bismut he published a new album 'Le Chat Brel' and performed concerts throughout Europe

Leur premier album 'Le Vacanze Di Hegel' est sorti en 1997 : Tango, habanera, sonorités impressionnistes et minimales, improvisation jazz et musique baroque. En 1998 Quartetto Magritte remporte le Arezzo Wave Festival et l'un des morceaux, "Cubi", est publié par Polygram. En 2002 participation à l'émission de radio « DemoRai » (promotion de la musique indépendante). La même année, production du CD « L'amantenuta ». Le morceau " L'amantenuta " en version remix, par Paul Murphy et publié chez Afro Art Records avec le titre ‘Malanotte’ En 2005, le Quartetto Magritte remporte la Moneta d'Argento (deuxième prix) pour la section jazz de la deuxième édition du Mantova Music Festival. En 2008, l'ensemble a sorti l'album 'Cofferatzinger' Après 2008, le leader et fondateur du groupe, Maurizio Minardi, s'installe à Londres où il publie l'album « The Cook, the Clown, the Monk and the accordionist » et effectue de nombreuses tournées en Angleterre et en Europe. Depuis 2017, Maurizio Minardi s'installe à Paris où avec le violoniste Gabriel Bismut il publie un nouvel album 'Le Chat Brel' et donne des concerts dans toute l'Europe.
